In mid-1981, Greg Trout and two partners purchased a split foyer house on Alternate Route 40 in Frederick. They gutted the basement for a retail showroom and converted the top floor for warehouse space. A non-runnng DIVCO milk truck was converted for cold beer storage and Trout Liquors was born. It's first day in business June `10, 1981, net sales were $382. 

Ausherman Construction undertook further renovations, including a new 1,600 s.f. retail space and increased the warehouse space to 7,000 s.f.  The distinctive stained glass "trout" window was commissioned in 1994 from local glass artist And Culler.
